雨ニモマケズ Unperturbed by the rain
風ニモマケズ Unruffled by the wind
雪ニモ夏ノ暑サニモマケヌ Unflurried by the snow and unfazed by the summer heat
丈夫ナカラダヲモチ Of sound body
慾ハナク Without desire
決シテ瞋ラズ Never angry
イツモシヅカニワラツテヰル But always a quiet smile
一日ニ玄米四合ト Eating three square meals a day
味噌ト少シノ野菜ヲタベ Of brown rice, some miso, and a few vegetables
アラユルコトヲ In all things
ジブンヲカンジヨウニ入レズニ Free of self-interest
ヨクミキヽシワカリ Seeing and hearing well
ソシテワスレズ Understanding and remembering
野原ノ松ノ林ノ蔭ノ In the shade of a pine grove in a field
小サナ萱ブキノ小屋ニヰテ A small, thatched hut in which to live
東ニ病氣ノコドモアレバ If in the east there are sick children
行ツテ看病シテヤリ Going to nurse them
西ニツカレタ母アレバ If in the west there are weary women
行ツテソノ稻ノ束ヲ負ヒ Going to bear their sheaves
南ニ死ニサウナ人アレバ If in the south there are dying men
行ツテコハガラナクテモイヽトイヒ Going to ease their fear
北ニケンクワヤソシヨウガアレバ If in the north there is conflict
ツマラナイカラヤメロトイヒ Telling them to set aside their differences
ヒデリノトキハナミダヲナガシ Shedding tears in time of drought
サムサノナツハオロオロアルキ And worrying over a cold summer that threatens the harvest
ミンナニデクノボウトヨバレ Thought of by all as a nobody
ホメラレモセズ Neither sought
クニモサレズ Nor avoided by any
サウイフモノニ That is the kind of person
